Everyone gets involved in Sports Day on the Darley Playing Fields

Our Year 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 children are regular visitors to Nidderdale High School where they take part in sport activities.

Awaiting the results following an exciting tournament

Although we are a small school we take part in many cluster sporting events which are held mainly at Nidderdale High School.  We regularly take part in tag rugby, football, hockey, netball, multi-skills and athletics tournaments.  In recent years we have won the football and netball competitions which was a great effort from all involved!  We are part of the Harrogate School Sports Partnership - this is a group of schools that take part in numerous sporting events over the school year. Click on the link for further information about the partnership:

We achieved the Silver Award for School Games in 2015 - 2017 in recognition for our involvement in School Sport and have maintained it ever since.

In school our curriculum is designed around the 6 key areas of Physical Education: Games, Athletics, Gymnastics, Dance, Outdoor and Adventurous Activities and Swimming.  We also teach Health Related Exercise and both KS1 and KS2 receive two lessons of PE per week.  Our aim is to ensure that all our children regardless of ability are given the opportunity to reach their physical potential in all the areas of PE that we teach.

All Primary Schools in England have received  funding to promote Physical Education and School Sport within their settings.

Over the course of 2019/2020 the Sports Funding will help raise the profile of school sport.  Not only will the children benefit from more opportunities to take part in cluster sports events as well as taking part in a five session Outdoor Education programme, they will also benefit from subsidised travel to and from events and the re-newel of sports equipment.  This year we are employing a specialist sports coach to provide lessons for all our pupils across all the year groups.  Click on the link below for a detailed breakdown of how we anticipate spending our funding this year:
