Our Local Community

At Darley School, we are very fortunate to have many strong relationships with people and groups in our local community.

Our village sign proudly shows the success our village has had in the 'Britain in Bloom' national competitions. We have close links with our local pre-school settings; Darley Playgroup, Dacre Playgroup and Little Treasures Nursery. This ensures that our youngest children are able to settle in quickly. Similarly we have good relationships with the local high schools, which ensure that the Year 6 children have a smooth transition to secondary education. In the past our children have transferred to all the Harrogate Schools and Upper Nidderdale High School at Pateley Bridge.

Matthew Evans leading an assembly based upon 'Relationships' and working together. We have close links with both the Church of England and Methodist Churches and members of the local community are welcomed into school. Currently we have volunteers who come into school to lead assemblies, play the piano and help with productions, hear children read, help with different small group activities as well as talking to the children about local history and sharing some of their interests and experiences. Our strong link with 'Darley in Bloom' continues to flourish; they have helped us regenerate ou wildlife garden. Also involved through this scheme have been staff from RHS Harlow Carr Gardens who built a wonderful 'Log Ness monster'.

Every year at Christmas we sing at the Darley Luncheon Club Christmas lunch which is always well received as well as singing at the Darley Mill Centre on the Saturday before Christmas.  For further information about Darley village, visit the village website:
